Prof. Dr. İsmail Hamzaoğlu, İstanbul ili Sarıyer ilçesindeki Acıbadem Maslak Hastanesi bünyesinde görev yapan bir genel cerrahi uzmanıdır. Tıp eğitimini 1988 yılında İstanbul Üniversitesi bünyesinde tamamlamıştır. Uzmanlık eğitimini 1993 yılında İstanbul Üniversitesi Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi Genel Cerrahi bünyesinde tamamlamıştır. Profesör akademik unvanına sahiptir. Kayıtta belirtilen başlıca ilgi alanları Safra Kesesi Taşları ve İltihabı (Kolesistit), Gastroenteroloji ve Koloproktoloji Cerrahisi, Gastrointestinal Onkoloji, Özofagus Cerrahisi ve Sindirim Sistemi Hastalıkları ve Cerrahisi (Apandisit, Bağırsak Tıkanıklığı) başlıklarıdır. Kayıtta 95 adet tarihli bilimsel etkinlik kaydı bulunmaktadır; en güncel kayıt 2021 yılına aittir. Ayrıca Acıbadem Altunizade Hastanesi bünyesinde de hasta kabul etmektedir.
